Practicing Gratitude as a Practice

Note to myself: gratitude as a practice has value, especially when I don’t feel like it, when I’m feeling less hope and trust and excitement about life. That’s when I most need perspective, that’s when having a more complete sense of reality helps me.

OK…

  • grateful I’m remembering to do this. Acting differently than in the past changes the course of my life.
  • grateful that I can choose to act differently, that I’m not lost in my story to the point of losing awareness of what is happening.
  • grateful I can act kindly to myself today, not berate myself for falling short yesterday. everything I do matters, that’s why I want to abstain from acting on any addictive pattern, even the ones that seem minor or irrelevant. Kindly, gently, with ease.
  • grateful for the food in my belly, comfort and energy for the afternoon work push.
  • grateful fro my partner who continues to show me how to love, live with courage, and keep a light heart.
